Dear Readers,

Happy Summer, everybody!  It certainly is summer at Breezy Point these days.

I am sending out this blog post to my readers via email today.
Since readership has slowed to a trickle, I have decided, at the suggestion of one reader, to create a new public blog that will indicate when a new posting has gone to this blog.  The new public blog is located at: http://breezypointer.blogspot.com/ .  Please go over to that blog and sign up as a Follower (preferred).  Or, subscribe to it by email or any other way you prefer.  It will let you know when a new post has appeared at this blog.  Hopefully that will breathe new life into this blog here.  Thank you ever so much.  I really appreciate the fact that you all check in here.  You all are the best!

By the way, as year round homeschoolers, we are still going at it here.  We hit the books harder in the summertime than we do at any other time of the year.  It is simply too hot to do much else.

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!

. . . . . Smokin’!

Readership has gone up a lot in the past month or so, and it is exciting!  I am not sure why, but I suspect it has a lot to do with my membership on the Calvert School blog network and with various inquiries about Calvert on Yahoo groups.

But in addition, I have met friends through this blog who have other things in common with us besides Calvert, such as music / violin studies.  Whatever the reason, I am glad you are here.

It has been a very long time since I have asked this, so please bear with me, but if you feel inclined, please drop me a comment to this blog or send me an email at billberna     @    bellsouth    .  net     so that I can “get to know” you a little bit.  Maybe you’re a homeschool family, maybe we live in the same state, or maybe we share some other interests.  I would love to hear from you; it helps to have a sense of who my readers are, and approximately where they are from (especially you who are visiting from the other side of the world).

I’ve already made some very nice bloggy friends, and it would be great to meet more.

Thank you!

First of all, I have to say Happy October!  "October First" has a beautiful ring to it, don't you think?  Introducing my favorite time of the year, when every week will probably get better than the last.

But what I meant to talk about is choices.  With my limited spare time at home, I like to do the following things:

Blog

Read

Practice the piano

But I find that if I do one of them, that means the other two are simply not going to happen at all that day.   To make it more complicated, I have gotten active again on Facebook, mainly because a homeschool group I joined uses it as one of its methods of communicating, and I don't want to miss anything.  So that, and posting about our trip, has kind of -- drawn me --- back -- to Facebook activity.  Well, Facebook limits everything, so that means even less likelihood of blogging, reading, and practicing the piano.

So, once again I recognize, immediately, the need to tone down the Facebook involvement by about 97%, or virtually none.  Which I will do when I have finished uploading photos in a few days.

Unfortunately my blogging, too, comes at great cost.  Darn.  Maybe it will be better on the weekend.  I haven't read (except the Bible), or touched the piano, since we returned home.  It's a reality of life.  Just a season, you know.  I am not complaining, just noting the reality of too few hours in a day.  That's all.

It is time to change my blog nicknames for our children. After all, they are beginning to -- shall we say -- outgrow them.

So from now on, Little Son shall be called "Chips", in honor of the fact that he especially loves salty, crispy snacks.

And Baby Girl shall be called "Sweet Girl" in honor of her sweetness. . . . . and her sweet tooth.

Now, in real life, I do continue to call them "Baby Girl" and "Little Son", but it has become time to change their names on this blog. And yes, our son is also a sweet boy, but in honor of his being a boy, I shall not advertise that too much.

It is just time. Capiche?

This is when I get to sound like a church worship leader. I have found it very fun, and gratifying, to have attracted a groups of readers to this blog. Most of you I have "met" either in person, or through your blogs. Since beginning this blog, I have met so many unique and neat home's-cool-ing families and homesteading families through their blogs.

I do have a few frequent visitors, though, who I haven't had the chance to "meet and greet" yet. A frequent reader from New Hampshire. A frequent reader from Ontario. Please drop me a comment. Tell me about your blog, too, so I can visit. I would like to hear from you. It makes me feel more comfortable with writing and posting. My blog is relatively "public" right now, and I do prefer to keep it that way, but I might need to change the settings.

I plan to add a new feature to my sidebar soon: a list of blogs I read. Like I said, I have met the neatest families, and I want to share their blogs with you, too. You moms have really inspired me. I love to read about homesteading families as well, families who are seeking the simple life, families who are living "off the grid", families who are at various points in this spectrum. I think my readers will too.

Have a blessed day!
